Summer at Camp North Star has officially begun, and that means blog updates officially begin now too! Over the past couple of days, excited campers have arrived via planes, trains and cars and we’re off to great summer! Here’s a quick update of what’s been happening the past couple of days:

Saturday evening: The first bus of campers arrived to greet our excited staff and get settled in before the arrival of more campers on Sunday.

Sunday: The rest of our Session 1 campers arrived and met counselors, signed up for classes, took swim tests and unpacked. Our evening program was Bunk Night, so campers spent the evening with their cabins and did all sorts of activities, ranging from canoeing across the lake to have a campfire and make s’mores to a dress-up fashion show in the rec hall. One cabin even took “lake showers” with biodegradable soap. Then it was early to bed for our tired campers and counselors.

Monday: The next day brought our first day of classes! We have a huge range of classes this session, which includes both classic camp activities like sailing, soccer and stained glass, as well as classes like Quidditch and parkour. It was HOT, and by the time free time rolled around, many campers chose to spend some time hanging out in the shade or swimming at the waterfront. Our evening program was opening campfire, and many campers and staff signed up to perform. We had a number of awesome performers, including Isha and Isa singing “Best Day of My Life” and Nate with his rendition of “Falling Slowly” from the musical movie Once. Even our international staff members got in on the show with their performance of “Party in the USA.” After an eventful and entertaining opening campfire, most campers headed to Grove Time to hang out with their friends, and our older campers got to spend some time in the Village. All in all, a great first full day to start off the summer!

    Here’s to an awesome summer!
